Living in the Now

Spiritual growth

Living in the “now” is the hardest thing a Christian will face.  We are so caught up in the future or living in the past that we cannot be alive to the present.  God is the god of now, (the great I AM) and we must live in the now in order to know God completely.  Our hearts are so concerned with what we will be, instead of what we are.  We know what the bible says about us yet we think it will happen at a later date.  We have heard all of his promises yet we do not believe them.  When circumstances arise that challenge our faith or convictions we bow down to them because we are scared we will lose.  We try to manage our obstacles instead of walking over them.  We try to argue with the devil because we think he has power over us.

If we really believe the word of God and all his promises than why all the fear…?  Why all the discouragement?  Has God’s plan somehow changed because of a hurdle we have come to?   No, God’s plan has already been written and sealed and we need to walk in it.  The minute we find ourselves in situations that discourage us or keep us from the goal, what do we do?  Do we lay down and cry and wait for God to pick us up? Do we sit and quote scripture at it, pretending we actually believe it?  Do we run and hide?  Or do we not see the circumstance in the first place because we believe that nothing can keep us from what God has in store for us?

By quoting the scripture and rebuking the devil every time he pokes his head up, we are arguing with something that can in no way harm us or keep us from anything.  So what we are saying is that if a 4 year old peddled up on a trike and tried to keep us from all that God has, we would engage him in debate.  See how foolish this is.   Well satan has no more power than that 4 year old and yet we try to convince him that he can’t hurt us.  But by doing so, we are already convinced he can.  Satan does not need us to prove to him the level of our faith.  If we had faith we would not talk with him in the first place.  The only ones we need to convince is ourselves.  When we become convinced of the word of God, satan will be nowhere near us, trust me.

God is a NOW God and he is the God of our circumstances, but if we are constantly discouraged by every little hurdle we are saying that it is more powerful than God.

Our lives have already been written (Psalm 139:16) and if we believe all the promises of God, than what shall we fear.  We know what he says but it has not convinced us because we think that we are in control and have to apply God’s word to the crisis.  But I am here to tell you that the Word of God has already been applied to every aspect in your life.  If no weapon formed against us will prosper, than NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US WILL PROSPER!  Case closed, its a promise.

The word of God is not dependent on us speaking it or even us believing it, the bible clearly states that the world and everything else were framed by his words (Heb 11:3).  So what we do not see (the truth) is what we are to walk by (2 Cor 5:7).  Just like we cannot see the kingdom of heaven and all its functions and spiritual principles but we know its there.  Well the same principles apply here because it was all constructed by his word.  We only see the truth when we walk by faith or should I say in faith. Faith which comes by the Holy Spirit.  God only responds to faith or should I say that God only responds to himself, meaning the Holy Spirit in you.  So in order to walk in the kingdom of God on earth is to have no fear.

Our lives are in his hands and we must lay them down in order to be “raised” up.

So we must allow the word to be true in our own lives and not have to convince anyone but ourselves that is true.

Here is an analogy to put things in perspective.

You are reading a book in which the “hero” is fighting to save his love.  He is faced with the evil villain and it looks like he will lose.

Do you grow fearful, concerned, or scared? NO, because you know that in the end he will be victorious and win.

Now apply that to your own lives because you have read the bible and know that he who promises is faithful (Heb 10:23, 1 Cor 10:13) and will not allow anything to happen to us that the promise in us can’t bear.

We must allow the word to surround us and take us over and that means death, because only then can we see the true LIFE that is in us.

All of God’s promises are available now and in order to experience them we must live in the now.

The only one who needs convincing of the word is you.

All the heavenly beings (demons and angels) know its true, do you?

When our foundation crumbles (all that we hold onto and are), his foundation remains inside us.  Because he is the Alpha and Omega and his truth will remain until the end.  That is why we must die in order for the him to live.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith (by adherence to and reliance on an complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

And if faith is the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1) then we live because the word of God said we would.  Selah!

Wow. You have no idea how much I needed to read that today. It’s amazing, really…it’s what I was dealing with God on this very morning.

Thank you so much for the incredible reminder…
